For a single-server proof-of-concept with up to 100 "average" nodes, a good starting point might be:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or CentOS 8 (simplifies dependencies versus Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7)
- 4 CPU cores
- 4GB physical memory
- 100GB disk, preferably SSD
