The OpenNMS Group was founded (link to team bios here) in 2004 with a simple mission: Help Customers — Have Fun — Make Money.
Help Customers
Our team makes networks work better, faster and more powerfully. As a services company it is important that we match our skills with our clients’ needs. If we do this well, then everyone benefits. If we do this wrong, then it means more work for us and the client is unhappy.
Our OpenNMS platform is easier to implement, more stable and provides a higher value than competing platforms. Because we are one hundred percent open source, we are focused on solving customer problems, not on selling a package full of products our customers don’t need.
Our model is to build on our client relationships year after year by providing customer-focused solutions that feed back in to make OpenNMS the best product available. This way everyone benefits, and if we are not helping customers, we are not doing it right.
Have Fun
We also have fun. We do this because we enjoy it. Our decades of experience have taught us that the open source model is the best way to build and manage complex services delivery environments. There will be no one trying to push an OpenNMS-based solution where it doesn’t belong, no one asking you first about your budget and second about your business, and gone is the frantic end-of-quarter call asking when you will make a decision. We’re here to make a difference in your business and not to push you toward some artificial deadline.
Make Money
The OpenNMS Group has a unique business plan. We call it “Spend Less Than You Earn”. Crazy, and it will never catch on, but since being founded in 2004 the company has been profitable, cash flow positive and free of debt. This allows us to focus on making OpenNMS the de facto network management platform worldwide by meeting our clients’ needs and not those of our investors.
What Our Clients Say
We are an ISP. Our network is what we actually sell, and that’s why we must have top performance from our network management system. We didn’t get top performance with our old system, but we do with OpenNMS. - Michael Micheletti, Manager of Engineering, TowerstreamRead More
In six hours, we had OpenNMS running with all the functionality that it had taken us three years to develop with Openview NNM. This was a rude but happy awakening. - Dale Meyerhoffer, Senior Network Analyst, Hershey Medical CenterRead More
I was the only IT person at the office, but with OpenNMS, it was easy to keep track of everything on the network, including our snow and ice-covered traffic light system. If there had been a problem, OpenNMS would have let me know. - John Jennery, City of Grapevine, TexasRead More
